Social Skill Summer Program

New Horizons has been providing area recreation programs with an innovative social skills curriculum.  These week-long camps are help in the summer and are intended for children with ADHD and other social concerns. We are currently NOT running programs at this time. However, we may provide this service if the need arises.

Curriculum Components

• Each camp is run in collaboration with area municipalities' recreation programs
• Each participant can attend at no cost to the family - paid for by a generous grant for the Livingston County Mental Health Reinvestment Grant and in-kind support from the municipalities
• Every group has a high counselor to child ratio (no more than 7 children per counselor)
• Every group incorporates cooperative gaming and social skills to directly address issues of social skills
• Groups are conducted by New York State Certified Social Workers with help from other mental health counselors with experience working with children
• We also provide similar programs throughout the year in conjunction with recreation after school programs
