New Horizons was created in 1998 by two area therapists - Mark Spezzano (Licensed Clinical Psychologist) and Steven French (Licensed Clinical Social Worker - R#) to serve the children and families of Monroe, Livingston, and surrounding counties.

Mark earned his Master's in Social Work from Syracuse University.  There he majored in Family Mental Health.  While at Syracuse University, Mark was a charter member of Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Workers.  He also has a Master's and a Doctorate in Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine from Northcentral University.  He has worked with children and families for over 20 years.  He also teaches Psychology at a local college.  He is currently a member of the Mood Disorders Association, National Attention Deficit Disorder Association, Society of Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms and Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, as well as being a Board Certified Diplomate.  Finally, Mark is a member of the North American Association of Christians in Social Work.

Steven received his Master's in Social Work from the University of Buffalo.  He brought his love of outdoors and his vast school experiences to the organization.  He was a founder of a local soccer club working with area teens.  He continues coaching at the High School level and thoroughly enjoys what  the interaction brings.   Finally,  Steven has many  years of professional experience working with children and their families.  Steven has an interest in children's issues such as depression and ADHD. Steven retired from NHGV in the Fall of 2010 to continue his many hobbies and interests.
